The Choir School is a very unique inner city music program. It naturally has the ability to attract amazing young artists. With so few programs geared towards black and brown kids, it must be treated with care. The freedom of creativity is priceless for most of the children in your care. Every song, concert or stage play becomes a treasured gift. Let's continue to demand a spirit of excellence from every Choir School participant, staff, and volunteer. I'm very grateful for all you, and proud to be a part of this great organization.

The Choir School of Delaware has been a blessing for my student. The experiences she has built up while there have enriched her soul in so many ways. We have seen her boost of confidence, worthiness, and musical apprenticeship reach to a level that can only bring joy to our hearts. This has led her to be friendlier and less afraid of showing her true, funny, and compassionate self. We are forever thankful to you for letting her be part of this wonderful experience, which I often refer to as the hidden gem.

His work uplifts our youth, engages families, and strengthens our entire community. Dr. Tracy oversees daily programming, ensuring each student receives the attention, support, and encouragement they need to thrive. He also keeps families closely informed, providing regular updates and guidance to help students grow academically, socially, and artistically. No child gets left behind on his watch—Dr. Tracy also coordinates transportation, making sure every student has a safe and reliable ride to and from the Choir School, gigs, and performances. One of his most impactful initiatives is GOP: Gentlemen of Promise, a mentorship program that empowers young men to become successful, hardworking, and integrity-driven leaders. He leads with wisdom and compassion—and when the moment calls for it, Dr. Tracy can SANG! ?? MEET MISS MAHCAIYAH ? Mahcaiyah Wearing-Gooden has been a cornerstone of The Choir School family for the past four years. A proud Philadelphia native, she brought with her over five years of experience in the Philadelphia School District and a strong background in special needs care. When she relocated to Delaware to join our team, she didn’t just step into her role—she hit the ground running and hasn’t looked back since! As a dedicated leader and mentor, Mahcaiyah plays an essential role in shaping our school community. She leads our PTA alongside a team of incredible parents, fosters meaningful social groups for our young ladies, and recently launched the innovative Choir School Store—a creative initiative that teaches financial literacy while allowing students to earn fun rewards like snacks, toys, and school supplies. In addition, she conducts weekly Student Goals Chart check-ins, supporting each student’s behavior, academic progress, and personal development with care and consistency. Thanks to Mahcaiyah’s leadership, students have learned to manage money, celebrate their achievements, and build confidence—skills that will last a lifetime. This summer, our young performers found their voices, built lifelong confidence, and debuted an original musical cabaret—right here in Wilmington! Every week, students also got hands-on with bucket drumming, cello, and violin thanks to our friends at The Music School of Delaware. And for our big show at the Delaware Historical Society, we had a live pit band (major love to Nathan Jacobs on drums and Lawrence Trice on bass) that brought the whole performance to life! Plus, the team from Heckler & Frabizzio stopped by to talk careers — and treated us to an ice cream truck party afterwards! ???? Hear us out.. you DON’T want to miss these three legendary groups this SATURDAY @ 7:30pm! ?️?️?️ ______________________________________________ Deep Treble is the premier co-ed a cappella group at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. It was the fifth co-ed A Cappella group on campus and since its inception, has been entirely student-run. The group travels across the eastern seaboard, and has participated in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella several times, making it to the finals twice and picking up several awards along the way. They recently celebrated their 25th Anniversary Season! ______________________________________________ Under A Rest is the first gender inclusive a cappella group at West Chester University and they feel honored to be a part of this incredible event. This year, Under A Rest competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella and placed 2nd in the Mid-Atlantic Quarter finals, 3rd at Semi Finals and 2nd in the finals wildcard round. UAR has their spring benefit concert on Sunday, April 21st from 7-10pm at the Uptown Knauer Performing Arts Center, celebrating 10 years as a group! ______________________________________________ Off Track is an all-gender competitive a cappella group from Towson University, founded in Fall 2021. They compete in the ICCA’s and have placed 2nd place at semifinals twice in the last 3 years. They’ve also received several special awards in their short history, and this year their competition set received all 4: outstanding choreography, arrangement, vocal percussion, and soloist. Though they love to compete, their primary goal is to foster a fun, welcoming environment where they can be themselves and connect with each other through their shared love of a cappella.

It was the fifth co-ed A Cappella group on campus and since its inception, has been entirely student-run. The group travels across the eastern seaboard, and has participated in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella several times, making it to the finals twice and picking up several awards along the way. They recently celebrated their 25th Anniversary Season! ______________________________________________ Under A Rest is the first gender inclusive a cappella group at West Chester University and they feel honored to be a part of this incredible event. This year, Under A Rest competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella and placed 2nd in the Mid-Atlantic Quarter finals, 3rd at Semi Finals and 2nd in the finals wildcard round. UAR has their spring benefit concert on Sunday, April 21st from 7-10pm at the Uptown Knauer Performing Arts Center, celebrating 10 years as a group! ______________________________________________ Off Track is an all-gender competitive a cappella group from Towson University, founded in Fall 2021. They compete in the ICCA’s and have placed 2nd place at semifinals twice in the last 3 years. They’ve also received several special awards in their short history, and this year their competition set received all 4: outstanding choreography, arrangement, vocal percussion, and soloist. Though they love to compete, their primary goal is to foster a fun, welcoming environment where they can be themselves and connect with each other through their shared love of a cappella.

Next up on our list of performers is one of the foundational parts of the Chicana Collaborative — The Chicana Art Song Project. The Chicana Art Song Project is a multi-disciplinary endeavor aimed at giving voice to Chicana artists in literature, music, and the visual arts. We hope that singers may find these songs appealing and employ them in their repertoire. We welcome the founder and creator Dr. Noël Archambeault, Dr. D Blake Smith, Bri Keller, and Alondra Gonzalez. ____________________________________________ San Antonio native, Dr. Noël Archambeault, is the founder of the Chicana Art Song Project and teaches applied voice and voice pedagogy at the University of Delaware. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from Texas Tech University. Noël’s performing career has been marked by tremendous vocal and dramatic versatility and has included performances of operatic and concert repertoire from soprano and mezzo-soprano literature. Recent concert engagements have encompassed composers as drastically different as J.S. Bach and Arnold Schoenberg, and have included performances of works by Haydn, Mozart and Rossini. Her operatic repertoire includes prominent heroines of the lyric and spinto soprano repertoire, including the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Amelia in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera and Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen. As a recitalist, Noël is in great demand as an interpreter of 20th-century and contemporary music. Recent collaborations include the speaker in Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, as well as performances with Orchestra 2001 and the Relâche ensemble.
